What if ... Part 03
Let's move on to the next idea. In my opinion, Robert could have also made a great appearance in Sons of Anarchy. I imagine it as follows: The night hangs heavy over the California border as a Mayan convoy drives down a deserted country road. Two trucks, loaded with weapons are escorted by several motorcycles. The shipment is destined for several clubs including the Sons of Anarchy’s Redwood Charter. Suddenly, black pickup trucks cut off the convoy. Masked men get out, gunsho

What if... Part 02
... what if Robert did less theater, taught less and spent a little more time in front of the camera? What roles would he play, or what roles could you imagine him in? Here's another idea and it's definitely not my last: What if he had been in Peaky Blinders? This is how I imagine it: Robert is Vittorio Mancini, known as Il Corvo, traveled to Birmingham in 1921. With a dark coat around his shoulders and his cap pulled low over his face, he wandered through the foggy streets

The Road Not Taken
I saved the poem in 2010. I don't remember where I found it. Who recorded it. It 's only available as an audio file. I took the liberty of placing the audio file under a picture I created. Listen to this modern classic; I find Robert's voice particularly moving at the end. Thoughtful, almost melancholic and then, at the very end, almost positive again? You can find more information about the poem and the author under Robert's lecture. An analysis, interpretation, and classi

What if ... Part 01
Imagine Robert was in Hell on Wheels. He is: John "Grave" McRae John is from the Appalachians, the son of a Scots-Irish trapper and a Cherokee woman. He did not return home after the Civil War because nothing was waiting for him there. Instead, he headed west to where men write their own law. His nickname is "Grave" because "they say every fight with him ends in a grave." Here is an Episode proposal for Hell on Wheels, title “The Quiet Man” When a string of brutal killings t

Night of the Comet - (1984) Between neon lights, the end of the world and pop culture
If any science fiction B-movie from the 1980s has what it takes to become a cult classic, it's Night of the Comet. When the film was released in theaters in 1984, it initially seemed like just another product of the emerging sci-fi hype. But director Thom Eberhardt achieved something unusual: an apocalyptic film that refuses to be gloomy. Instead, it celebrates youthful lightheartedness with apocalyptic horror, garish neon colors with ironic social criticism, pop culture and

Shakespeare
Robert Beltran loves the theater, especially Shakespeare. He has taken part in various stage productions, often interpreting classical texts. Officially, there is no specific "favorite sonnet" of his, nothing is publicly documented. However, there are indications that he has a soft spot for Shakespeare's deeper, philosophical works in particular as Robert has often emphasized in interviews how much he appreciates theater, especially classical roles that require psychological

Year of the Snake
Before we check on the (Water) Snake, let us take a little glimpse at the history of the Chinese zodiac signs. It is written on Wikipedia: "One day, Buddha invited all the animals to come to him on the occasion of the New Year festival. However, only 12 animals accepted his invitation. As a reward, he gave them each the supervision of a year in the order of their arrival. The rat appeared first, followed by the buffalo, the tiger, the hare, the dragon, the snake, the horse, t

Star Trek Voyager: The Fight S05 E19
First, I planned to write about the movie LATINO but I have to admit it's been a while since I watched it and need time to refresh my memories for details. I decided to go with one of Robert's Voyager episodes. As we rewatch the series and we are in season 5 right now, the memories of Star Trek Voyager's The Fight are fresh. So here we go: About this episode Voyager entered a region called "chaotic space" because the laws of physics are so different that Voyager's crew can't

Singing like ...
... Elvis? No one sounds like Elvis. No one... except Dean Z. I am very critical of people singing Elvis songs. When I was 9 years old, I started to love his music accidentally. I got my first Walkman and I needed a tape to listen to. I went to my dad's stuff and chose a tape. It was an Elvis tape. Me doing nothing halfway, starting to become an Elvis addict with 9. Star Trek with 8, Elvis with 9. Yes, you have to start early with important things. ;) I liked Elvis for 7-8 y

Robert Beltran - The galactic Gentleman with Heart & Attitude
..... or Robert Beltran - The actor between worlds Robert Adame Beltran, born on November 19, 1953, in Bakersfield, California, is far more than "just" Commander Chakotay from Star Trek: Voyager. The charismatic actor, theater enthusiast, director, writer, musician, singer and activist with Mexican roots is a true one-of-a-kind in Hollywood, uncomfortably honest, sophisticated, funny, and passionately committed to what's important to him. Charismatic was exactly what I notic

How it started
It has been some years since I had the opportunity to work with Robert Beltran for 5 days. What an experience, but that isn't how it exactly started. While Robert filmed Zoot Suit, I was not even 10 years old when I started to watch STAR TREK the Classic Series with Captain Kirk and Spock. I grew up with the classics and it was my favorite. It got me hooked, or as we later learned, I was assimilated and resistance was futile. For a long time Captain Kirk and his crew were the
